Any concrete surface resting on the ground
This system improves road and highway quality and performance. It is also optimal for esplanades of ports and airports, railways, roads and any transport infrastructure that rests on the ground. It can easily replace traditional systems of rigid and flexible asphalt concrete pavements due to the savings and durability offered by its design.
Roads: JRI+ joints make possible to lay 15 cm. thick concrete pavement poured directly over the grade. (Document: Table with various proposed road sections), (road cross-section for T00 traffic, more than 4000 trucks per day).
Port and airport concourses: JRI+ joints allow concrete slabs thickness reduction, improve their safety and durability, or both. (Document: Equivalence in depth between slabs equipped with and without JRI+ joints).
Channels: the advantage of using this type of joint in channel construction, apart from avoiding cutting and sealing, results from the inherent water-tightness of the system which eliminates water leakage losses. Tests were performed with 6 meter water-column on slabs with no leaks or filtration appreciated. Structural unity of all slabs is also to be pointed out.
Railways: Continuous concrete slabs with JRI+ joints can be conveniently used both technically and economically, as a substitute for the ballast-sleeper classical railway solution. (see procedure)
